My Approach to Therapeutic Bodywork

Effective, lasting change is the result of multiple sessions. Each time I interact with your body, we become more familiar with each other. Healing occurs when we are in a parasympathetic state; when we are activated (sympathetic state, think fight/flight/freeze), our bodies will naturally fight the change to maintain the defenses it has built. These compensatory patterns perpetuate pain & discomfort.

Multiple sessions give your nervous system the space, repetition, and safety it needs to reorganize, reduce compensatory patterns, and integrate new, healthier ways of moving and being.

Potential Benefits of Consistent Bodywork

While every body is different and results cannot be guaranteed, many clients experience meaningful improvements over time, including:

  • Reduction in pain and discomfort (neck, back, shoulders, hips, knees, feet, tension headaches)

  • Increased range of motion and mobility

  • Improved sleep quality

  • Less physical strain during everyday activities

  • Greater ability to engage in preferred activities without discomfort

  • Support recovering from injuries or trauma

  • Reduction of long-term compensatory patterns

  • Fuller, easier breathing and improved oxygenation

  • Reduced lymphatic congestion and improved natural detoxification

  • Strengthened sensory and motor communication (grip strength, proprioception, hearing, vision, etc.)

  • A deeper sense of physical, emotional, and mental and spiritual well-being

Therapeutic Bodywork Sessions

Sessions are tailored moment-to-moment and incorporate a broad range of modalities based on what your body needs. Each appointment includes:

  • A brief intake and assessment

  • Prioritization of your current concerns

  • Approximately 50 minutes of focused bodywork (sessions may extend if appropriate and time allows)

Modalities may include myofascial therapy, neuromuscular therapy, muscle energy techniques, acupressure, shiatsu, Thai-inspired stretching, therapeutic reposturing, lymphatic facilitation, reflexology, deep tissue, and Swedish techniques.

Most, if not all, situations will require more than one session in order for treatment to have a lasting effect; the nervous system requires familiarity and calm, and I will learn how to work with your body more with each session. Every body is unique and requires specific and special care. Packages are recommended and available at a discounted rate.

Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy (currently studying)

Neuromuscular therapy is a valuable aspect when working with chronic pain, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and performance. ANMT is designed to assess, target, and treat soft-tissue pain using clinical reasoning, trigger point work, myofascial techniques, and corrective neuromuscular strategies.

ANMT includes postural analysis, orthopedic assessment, palpation precision, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep transverse friction, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, and neuromuscular re-education, providing specific, mechanism-drive soft-tissue care informed by functional anatomy.

Myofascial Therapy

A modality designed to address specific acute/chronic pain and/or loss of range of motion. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort in daily activities and would like some strategic relief assistance, Myofascial Therapy can be extremely beneficial (providing therapy for the muscles and the fascia).

The National Holistic Institute educated Megan in powerful techniques used by chiropractors, physical therapists, and other medical professionals in the healthcare field using the knowledge & tools to assess a client's condition & strategize a session customized to meet personal and specific needs. These techniques target pain and range of motion issues caused by a variety of factors.

Therapeutic Reposturing

Therapeutic Reposturing blends Eastern and Western massage and bodywork techniques choreographed in a
precise sequence to promote structural integrity and enhance neuromuscular and emotional balance.

Therapeutic Reposturing uses aspects of reflexology, acupressure, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue work, while the client participates with deep breathing, feeling their body slowly ease into stretches and achieve an enhanced sense of spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance.
